Quality & Safety

As key objective of the microbiology laboratory, reliable and rapid results are achieved through the implementation of internal daily and monthly external quality control in accordance with international standards:

1) Internal quality control

• Accurate implementation of blood sampling instructions and conditions
• Repeated checking of the analytical parameters of all methods (determination of accuracy and consistency)
• Daily control of results through control formulations, known as controls
• Clinical evaluation of laboratory results and repeat performance of new measurements on pathological samples or results
• Implementation of LIS programs through the use of barcodes

2) External quality control

• Participation of the laboratory in the National External Quality Assessment Scheme on a monthly basis.

3) ISO 9001:2015 International Standard

• The laboratory operates a Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 International Standard.
